How to Pitch Brands as a Content Creator

Write a brand pitch a marketing manager can forward: who you are, why this brand, what you would make, and what it costs.

A pitch is a document someone else can send upstairs. If it only makes sense while you are on a call, it is not a pitch yet.

The four blocks

  1. You: Format, audience and one proof point.
  2. Them: A specific product or campaign rather than a generic compliment.
  3. The work: One or two concrete concepts, including format.
  4. The commercial: Starting rate, what it includes and what would cost extra (usage, extra stories or rush delivery).

If you are shy about (4), they will invent a number. It will be lower than yours.

What to cut

  • Your life story.
  • A threat (“I have other brands waiting”).
  • Inflated screenshots with no date.
  • Ten concept options. Two is plenty.

After you hit send

Log it. Date it. Follow up once. Use the brand pitch email template if you want the wording done.

When a pitch turns into a live campaign, the rest of the lifecycle is How to track brand collaborations.
